What you will give Swan's Island

  • You will see patients with minor injuries and illness at our free walk-in first aid station, 2 hours a day, Monday through Friday. On occasion, if a situation is deemed more serious, you will contact island EMS and help coordinate transporting the patient to the mainland for further evaluation and treatment.
  • The First Aid Station has a well-equipped exam room and first aid supplies but only limited medications on hand. The walk-in clinic is NOT intended to take the place of one's primary care, and we do not treat chronic illnesses or renew patient medications. The First Aid Station is also a place where injured patients can be brought for evaluation and where patients can be held safely while awaiting transport off the island if necessary.
  • What Swan's Island will give you

  • Ferry passage on and off the island.
  • Dinner with island families.
  • Sublime hiking.
  • A Swan's Island house or cabin for you and your family.
  • Membership in the Swans Island Yacht Club.
  • The gratitude of an entire community
  • Technical details

You may be asked to assist our EMS team if required for triage of emergency calls. There are generally an average of 15 emergency medical calls over the course of the summer.

Out of state providers would need to get a full or temporary Maine license.
